Our Principles

Today’s societies face an erosion of human rights, an accelerating climate crisis and environmental emergency, and the rise of illiberal, nationalist and populist ideologies. These challenges amplify and reinforce each other, and are compounded by a diminishing spirit of multilateral cooperation, the weakening of security governance, and the discrediting of international accountability and justice mechanisms. This has created a context in which unpredictability is the “new normal”, clouding our ability to see the opportunities of tomorrow. This in turn can be a cause of inertia.

Progress & Change Action Lab was founded to change this course of events.

Our team’s experience serves our knowledge; we are not doomed if we combat inertia. As an independent, cause-driven advisory group—a first of its kind—we can help you and your team see beyond the challenges of today to find new ways forward, and design a path towards progress—you & us, together.

  • We work alongside you to design your (transition) strategies.
  • We develop impactful outreach and advocacy campaigns to amplify your influence.
  • We identify and monitor opportunities for you to further your mission.

Progress is a nice word.
But change is its motivator.
And change has its enemies.

Compassion & Humility:
Our approaches are rooted in our core values of compassion and humility. We stand by these values in every endeavour and urge you to hold us accountable to them.

As well as embodying these values, we also want the causes and partners with which we engage to cultivate more compassionate societies and communities. We believe compassion and humility make us stronger, allow us to learn new answers to the challenges we face, and help us foster the change and progress to which we aspire.

Our belief in these values makes us utilitarian in our approach:
  • We believe that compassion and humility strengthen our resilience, which allows us to thrive in this era of crisis.·
  • We are committed to compassionate leadership, which we believe is the best way to ensure inclusivity and combat discrimination.
  • We hold compassion for others’ challenges and exercise humility in our actions, which are essential to foster meaningful engagement with those beyond our community.
Ambition & Sensibility:
P&C Action Lab was founded in the summer of 2023 with one ambition: To help reshape the answers to the multi-faceted challenges of today by supporting cause-driven non-profits, governmental institutions and, where fitting, the private sector.

While we strive for excellence and impact, we balance our ambition with sensibility. Being ambitious helps us meet the high standards to which we aspire, in our work with our partners and in what we achieve, you & us, together. Yet, sensibility is also required to ensure we enact sustainable positive change that tangibly improves lives.

Our foundation reflects two decades of commitment by our founder & president, Florian Irminger. His diverse experience—from a lawmaker and national political party leader to an international civil society leader—inspired the creation of the Action Lab. Under Florian’s leadership, an exclusive team, backed by a distinguished Council of Experts, collaborates to bring our principles to life.
